Fees
At Child Aware we seek to provide you with the highest quality of care for you and your family. In order to achieve this commitment we have elected to be a private billing practice with appropriate fees for our services.
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration, all costs are advised prior to the initial consultation and vary according to your needs and service. Our fees range from $145 to $165 per session (see below for rebate information) depending on the type of service and time of day. A limited number of low cost options are available for health care card holders - please call us to find out more.
You do not require a referral to attend counselling at Child Aware, you can simply call us to arrange an appointment, however to receive a rebate for your service with a Psychologist or Mental Health Accredited Social Worker you can access the following (dependent on eligibility):

Medicare: Mental Health Treatment Plan
Child Aware Psychologists and Mental Health Accredited Social Workers are registered with Medicare and hold provider numbers. This means that clients with an eligible referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan may receive a rebate for their counselling.
To obtain a Medicare rebate, a written referral from your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist is required with a current Mental Health Treatment Plan. The current Medicare rebates are $74.80 (Mental Health Accredited Social Worker) and $84.80 (Psychologist) for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Most GPs will require you to make a long appointment to obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan - please discuss with your GP whether you and/or your child may be eligible.
Telepsychology Mental Health Initiative
Eligible patients in rural and remote locations with a Mental Health Treatment Plan (as above) will be able to claim rebates for video consultations through the Medicare Benefits Schedule Better Access initiative. Up to ten sessions can be provided through video conferencing. If you would like to access this service and live in a rural and remote location please contact us for more information. The current Medicare rebates are $74.80 (Mental Health Accredited Social Worker) and $84.80 (Psychologist) for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Psychological Therapies (formerly ATAPS) - Brisbane South
If you hold a health care card, pension card or experience financial hardship speak to your GP about a referral under the Psychological Therapies program to Child Aware. Child Aware is an approved WMQ Psychological Therapies program provider. WMQ Psychological Therapies Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, and is managed by Brisbane South PHN. Sessions under this funding incur no out of pocket cost.
Brisbane MIND and Brisbane MIND4KiDs - Brisbane North
If you hold a health care card, pension card or experience financial hardship speak to your GP about a referral under the Brisbane North PHN Brisbane MIND (12 years +) or Brisbane MIND4KiDs (0 - 11 years) program to Child Aware. Child Aware is an approved Brisbane MIND and Brisbane MIND4KiDS provider. Brisbane MIND and Brisbane MIND4KiDS is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, and is managed by Brisbane North PHN. Sessions under this funding incur no out of pocket cost.
Private Health Fund
If you have private health insurance you may be able to claim a rebate. Clients are provided with a receipt at the time of payment and this can be submitted to the private health fund to receive a rebate. As each health fund and level of cover relates to different rebate allowances, each client is encouraged to discuss rebates directly with their health fund.
Victims Assist Queensland
Victim Assist Queensland provides access to services and financial assistance to help victims of violent crime recover from the act of violence, including domestic and family violence. Child Aware provide eligible clients with counselling funded by Victims Assist Queensland.
Medicare: Helping Children with Autism Initiative
Child Aware is also able to provide services under the Medicare Helping Children with Autism Initiative. Medicare items for up to four allied health diagnostic (assessment) services and for 20 relevant allied health services (in total) for eligible children up to the age of 15 (provided the treatment and management plan is in place before the age of 13). A referral must be made by a Paediatrician or a Psychiatrist for this program. The current rebate is $84.80. Please discuss with your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to determine your eligibility.
Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) Package - Department of Social Services
The Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) package is an Australian Government initiative providing support for children aged 0 - 6 years with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families and carers. Funding of up to $12,000 is available to children aged 0-6 years diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Children must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia, and families must apply for the funding before their child's sixth birthday. Families then have until the child turns 7 to access the funding. Sessions under this funding incur no out of pocket cost.
NDIS 
Child Aware is a registered provider under the NDIS. We are able to provide services to clients that are plan managed or privately managed. Please contact us to discuss this process.
WORK COVER
Our psychologists are able to provided psychological services funded by Work Cover. Discuss a referral to a Child Aware psychologist with your GP.
